Cartoon Network Teases Return of Gumball in ‘The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball’

Get ready to dive back into the bizarre, hilarious, and chaotic town of Elmore — Cartoon Network International has officially teased The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, a brand-new continuation of the beloved animated series The Amazing World of Gumball. Accompanied by a teaser trailer and a fresh new logo, the upcoming series promises to revive the iconic, off-the-wall humor and inventive visual style that made Gumball a global favorite.

Produced by Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball is set to premiere later this year. It will air on Cartoon Network’s international channels, stream on Hulu in the United States, and be available on HBO Max for audiences outside the U.S.

A Return to Elmore’s Madness

The new series once again centers on the misadventures of Gumball Watterson — the blue cat with a knack for chaos — and his family and friends. Whether it’s fighting an evil fast-food corporation, dealing with a romantic AI obsessed with his mom, or stopping Banana Joe from putting on pants, Gumball’s life is anything but normal. Joining him are his loyal goldfish brother Darwin, genius little sister Anais, hardworking mom Nicole, and laid-back dad Richard.

According to the official synopsis, this new chapter will bring “wilder stories, bigger twists, and surreal humor,” with a new name to match its ambitious tone. The series aims to push boundaries even further than the original show, which was already known for breaking the fourth wall and blending animation with reality.

Creative Powerhouse Behind the Scenes

The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball is created and executive produced by Ben Bocquelet, the original creator of The Amazing World of Gumball. Joining him as executive producers and series directors are Matt Layzell and Erik Fountain. The show will also feature music by Xav Clarke and art direction by Joe Sparrow, both of whom bring a unique creative flair to the series.

True to its roots, the show will continue to mix various media styles — including traditional 2D animation, CGI, puppetry, photorealism, and live action — to create a visually dynamic world. This eclectic blend has become a signature aspect of the Gumball universe and will now be taken to new heights. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

The voice cast includes Alkaio Thiele as Gumball, Hero Hunter as Darwin, Kinza Syed Khan as Anais, Teresa Gallagher returning as Nicole, and Dan Russell once again voicing Richard. The mix of new talent and returning favorites ensures that the essence of Gumball remains intact while giving it a fresh twist.

“We thought it was about time that Gumball and the rest of the gang woke up from their catnap,” said Vanessa Brookman, Warner Bros. Discovery’s General Manager of International Kids, Animation & Franchise. “Guided by the immense talents of Ben, Matt, Erik, and the team, the new series continues Gumball’s legacy as one of Cartoon Network’s most iconic and groundbreaking shows.”

Fans around the world are eagerly awaiting the return of Gumball’s gloriously weird world — and it looks like Elmore is about to get even stranger. CLICK HERE TO SEEE MORE
